Dying, retiring and investing

Progress with the movie is going well, with ten interviews now filmed.

Next week sees the launch of our Kickstarter campaign, designed to raise some funds for post-production and (more importantly) build an army of Boom! supporters.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been interviewing experts about death, retirement and investing.

Towards the end of May I went across to Clandon Wood Natural Burial Reserve in the Surrey Hills to interview Simon Ferrar.

We had a long chat about death and dying, something all Baby Boomers need to consider. Clandon Wood is a beautiful and very peaceful site. Simon and his team are doing some amazing work there to create an incredible nature reserve for future generations.

On Monday I caught the train into London to meet with Clive Bolton, Managing Director of Aviva’s Retirement Solutions business.

We discussed some of the findings of Aviva’s latest Real Retirement Report, which highlights attitudes to retirement and some of the considerations for the different ages of retirement. His interview and some other findings from this research will feature in the movie.

Yesterday afternoon I interviewed investment guru Justin Urquhart Stewart, co-founder of Seven Investment Management and television regular.

Justin is great fun and very knowledgeable when it comes to the economic impact of the Baby Boomer generation reaching retirement. As always, he was wearing his trademark red braces.

I’ve got a further three interviews in the diary for next week, and then another two or three still to book in order to finish the interview phase of this project.

Once these are filmed, it is a case of starting to edit each interview to find the best content and then creating a timeline for the movie, filling gaps in the story with narration and on screen graphics.
